The Stephen King adaptation that aired on Spike TV for one solo season will soon be leaving Netflix, as it has been in service since 2017. The fog departs Netflix in the US in October 2021.

Added to Netflix on October 24, 2017, the sci-fi series has adapted the Stephen King novella in which we followed the inhabitants of the village of Maine who were trapped in a mysterious fog that also brought monsters with it.

The series wasn’t particularly well reviewed and we’d find it hard to recommend it for that reason and the fact that it never got a solid conclusion.

Now, four years later, the series departs Netflix on October 24, 2021, meaning your last day to watch is October 23.

This removal date currently only applies to Netflix in the United States with no other regions showing removal dates.

Outside the United States, The fog bears Netflix’s Original branding. It was added a little earlier than the United States in August 2017. Now that its four-year anniversary is over, the rights that Netflix has acquired seem to last for a much longer period of time, although the fact that it’s branded a Netflix Original doesn’t mean it’ll be available forever.

The fog was part of Spike TV’s big foray into TV shows, but the days of the network were numbered because it was eventually renamed Paramount Network and moved to the Paramount Pictures headquarters to “give the network a closer connection to the movie studio.”

The show was canceled before this rebrand in September 2017, shortly before it was added to Netflix.

It’s not all bad news for Stephen King fans. Netflix is currently adjusting Mr. Harrigan’s phone with the help of Blumhouse and Ryan Murphy and The Duffer Brothers adapt Stephen King’s excellent novel, Talisman.

That’s on top of all the adaptations already on Netflix, such as In The Tall Grass,

Stephen King is a big believer in Netflix and has generally recommended many titles over the years, including the recently released Midnight Mass limited series by Mike Flanagan.
