Statement from U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona on New COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility for Children Ages 5 and Younger

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona issued the following statement on the COVID-19 vaccine’s eligibility for children 5 years old and under:

“Today parents and their families of approximately 20 million youngsters in America younger than five years old received confirmation that their babies, toddlers and preschoolers are qualified for the COVID-19 vaccine. This is a significant event in our country’s healing from the epidemic, and will provide many families and parents who’ve long waited for the moment to have greater peace of mind in making sure their children are safe and healthy. The Biden-Harris administration is taking the whole of government approach to ensure that every parent or caregiver seeking vaccinations for their child will be capable of doing so via pediatricians, primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals who are trusted such as pharmacies and community health centers. These vaccines are secure and can save lives.”
