Soldier dead, two injured in J&K avalanche | India News – Times of India


Srinagar: A soldier died while two others were injured after an avalanche struck an Army post in Tangdhar sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday morning.
After sustaining injuries in the snow slide, the trio was rushed to Kupwara hospital where soldier Nikhil Sharma of Army’s 7RR succumbed while his colleagues — Ramesh Chand and Gurvinder Singh — continued to undergo treatment, an Army officer said.
On Monday, authorities had issued an avalanche warning in four districts of Kashmir Valley — Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla and Ganderbal — after the higher reaches of the Union Territory received moderate to heavy snowfall.
Army Capt injured in grenade blast
Srinagar: An Army Captain was wounded in an accidental grenade blast at a forward post in Hameerpur area, along the Line of Control in Poonch district’s Balakote sector, late Tuesday. He was shifted to the Army Hospital in Rajouri with minor injuries, official sources said.
