NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede said, “As of now we haven’t found anything in the initial stage but we are not ruling out that angle at all.”
The actor was summoned on Tuesday evening after his alleged involvement came to light by drug supplier Shadab Batata. The actor has been charged with 27 A (the same as actress Rhea Chakraborty). A punishment for financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders, 28, 29,32 and 8C of the NDPS act.
Previously, Wankhede confirmed to ETimes, “We have found his involvement in the Shadab Batata case and he is definitely facing some serious charges. His statement is being recorded at present.”
In response to his arrests, Khan said in a statement to ANI, “Only 4 sleeping pills were found at my home. My wife has suffered a miscarriage & is using these pills as antidepressants.”
Shortly before he was taken to the NCB office, Khan, who has worked in several films and participated in TV reality shows like Bigg Boss, claimed he was not detained but had voluntarily come to meet the officers.
A team of officials raided locations in Andheri west in connection with the case.
The NCB has arrested nearly 36 drug peddlers to date as it unravels the drug angle in Bollywood arising out of the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on June 14, 2020.
