The most awaited decision on CBSE Class 12th Board Exams 2021 has been finally announced today, June 01, in a high level meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. As per the latest media reports, the Prime Minister has announced to cancel the CBSE Class 12th Board Exams, this year.

The Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change; Information & Broadcasting; & Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Prakash Javadekar and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal are among those present in the meeting.

After hearing all briefed on the possible options for the 12th board examination, the Central Government has taken his final decision in the interest of students. Amid the lethal wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the government has cancelled the CBSE 12th exam 2021. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated in his announcement that the health and safety of our students is the utmost priority and there would be no compromise with this.

Earlier, Class 12 board exams were scheduled to be held from May 4 to June 14, 2021. However, due to pandemic havoc across the country, the government announced the postponement of CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court was hearing a petition filed by advocate Mamta Sharma seeking the cancellation of exams in the current COVID-19 situation. The Supreme Court ordered the Centre to provide “tangible reasons” if it decides to depart from last year’s policy, which saw the remaining board exams cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Attorney General K Venugopal told a special bench of the Supreme Court composed of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari that the government will make a final decision on whether to hold Class 12 board exams in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic within the next two days. “Allow us until Thursday, and the government will make a final decision. The Supreme court adjourned the matter to June 3. Now the Central Government has taken his final decision and announced to cancel the CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021.

Previously, the CBSE has proposed holding exams between July 15 and August 26, with results being announced in September. The board also proposed two alternatives: holding regular exams for 19 major subjects at notified centres or holding shorter-duration exams at the schools where students are enrolled.
