Amid the lethal wave of COVID-19 pandemic, students and parents are demanding the cancellation of board examinations this year. Major board like Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE and Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced to cancel the class 10th & 12th board examinations and to promote the students on objective criteria basis.
Earlier, the Prime Minister has announced to cancel the CBSE Class 12th Board Exams, this year. The Prime Minister announced the final decision in a high level meeting that held in the interest of students. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated in his announcement that the health and safety of our students is the utmost priority and there would be no compromise with this.
Following this, the 12th board examinations will be reconsidered in many states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan. In these and many other states, it is possible to cancel the proposed board examinations.
Students, on the other hand, are perplexed about the CBSE and ISC exam results. He expresses concern about how we will be graded and who will receive what grade. They are now eagerly anticipating how CBSE will evaluate it.
Madhya Pradesh State Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan has announced to cancel the MP Board Class 12th examination this year. As per the media reports, Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar had called a meeting on Wednesday to take a final decision regarding the 12th board examination. In the meeting, as per the consent and instructions of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, it has been decided to cancel the examinations.
“Children’s life is precious to us, we will worry about career later. At a time when the whole country and the state is facing the crisis of Corona, then it is not appropriate to put the mental burden of examinations on the children:” reads a tweet done by Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
Following CBSE’s decision to cancel the Class 12 Board Exams, many states have been pressured to cancel their state board exams as well. The Karnataka government, which has been steadfast in its decision to hold both Class 10 and Class 12 – PUC examinations, is now expected to reconsider its decision. Officials stated that the final decision on SSLC and PUC exams is expected soon.
The Tamil Nadu government stated that it would consult with various stakeholders, including parents, PTAs, teachers, educationists, and health experts. The meeting will be held in the next two days, and a final decision on the TN HSC+2 Exams will be made then. The state had previously stated its intention to hold the board exams. However, no dates have been released by the Directorate of Government Examinations as of yet.
To put the speculation about UP Class 12 Board Exams 2021 to rest, Dinesh Sharma, state Education Minister and Deputy CM, stated that the final decision on UP Class 12 boards will be made only in the second week of July. He added that the final decision on whether to hold or cancel Class 12 board exams would be made after a meeting with CM Yogi Adityanath in July, based on the state’s current situation.
Soon after the CBSE decision, Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal announced that the HBSE 12th Board Exams 2021 would be cancelled. With a focus on student safety, the government announced that it has decided to follow the Centre’s decision and cancel the HBSE 12th Board Exams 2021. The result of class 12th exam will be based on the objective criteria in line with CBSE.
Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Dotasara tweeted that the final decision on board examinations will be made in the cabinet meeting today, based on discussions with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Education Minister Dotasara is said to have discussed this with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over the phone. In the meantime, it has been decided to postpone the exams. However, the final decision will be made at the meeting on Wednesday.
A proposal on this issue will be presented to the cabinet on June 5, after which the government will make a decision. The state government had previously stated that following the CBSE’s decision, the state education board would make the next decision regarding the examinations.
The Uttarakhand State Government has also announced to cancel the Board’s 12th exams this year. The announcement has been made in view of CG’s decision on cancelling the CBSE board examination in the country, according to state education minister Arvind Pandey. At the same time, 87000 children from 1100 schools were registered for the board examination, according to Ranveer Singh, Regional Director of Uttarakhand Board of Dehradun Region, but given the circumstances, the decision to cancel the examination is fine. In Uttarakhand, preparations for the 12th examination were also completed. In the Dehradun region, 333 examination centres have been established.
Maharashtra State Government announced that the final decision on Class 12th HSC Exams 2021 will be intimated in 2 days. The Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the safety of the students is of primary concern to the state and the decision for the same would be released within 2 days time after deliberation.
